Will Rogers World Airport
It was around 1927 when Oklahoma City created its first airport. And since that time, the growth and development of Will Rogers World Airport has been continuous.
In fact, what began as a facility for air passenger and airmail service has evolved into a major business complex with a profound economic impact on Oklahoma City and the rest of the state.
Today Will Rogers World Airport sits on just over 8,000 acres of land and serves seven major airlines, two regional airlines and a growing number of charter services. This figure alone makes Will Rogers World Airport one of the ten largest airports in the country in land area.
The airport operates three runways: two 9,800-ft parallel runways and one 7,800-ft crosswind runway, and can accommodate any size aircraft. Commercial carriers at Will Rogers average about 76 departures per day -- a large number for a community the size of Oklahoma City.
